-new season of Project Runway started... don't really know how i feel about this season just yet. I wasn't impressed with last season, i hope season 8 has something in store for me.
- every time i watch Rachel Zoe it makes me want to go to LA. i wish Houston had well known celebrity stylists that i could work with. that would be some intense experience!
- can't wait to get my hands on this years September issue! I just recently picked up the September issue of Marie Claire & Elle. So excited to see MK on the cover of Marie Claire. her photo shoot was great.

Here are some of my favorite looks from Day Birger et Mikkelsen's fall 2010 lookbook.

Who said hijabis can't be fashionable?

Name: Maryam Asadullah
Age: 22
Occupation: Full time Muslimah- Student :)

1) When did you start wearing Hijaab?

- HIGH SCHOOL FRESHMAN! I think I was either 15 or 16

2) Was it hard to find clothing that was modest, but fashionable at the same time?

- In the beginning, yes! I didnt realize the importance of dressing in accordance with the hijaab
so I wore whatever. I later started understanding the true essence behind hijaab and of course
fashion which gave me the head start to transform my ridiculous wardrobe!

3) Where would you recommend girls who wear hijaab to shop?

- Forever21, Macys, ZARA, Charlotte Russe, Arden B, New York & Company, Nordstorm, Wet Seal, H&M

4) Favorite Designer /Shops?

Designers: Tory Burch, Vera Wang, Marc Jacobs, GUCCI, 7 for all Mankind
Shoes: Jessica Simpson, Aldo, Nine West

5) What is the BEST way to accessorize a hijaab without being too flashy?

any type of hand jewelery works the best because it all shows and it gives
that perfect amount of oomph to any outfit!
- A super cute handbag you can carry with almost everything and anything
- Self printed or a simple yet cute hijaab itself does the trick :)

1. How would you define your style?
plain jane everyday white v neck tee with jeans, at work business professional with a little bit of a twist, going out usually skirts with tights with a cute top and heels!

2. When did your interest in fashion begin?

when i started with mac that is when i turned into a girl it inspires me to be myself with a little bit of a edge, i definitely think if i go anywhere i will think of what i will put on my face rather than picking out what i will wear.

3. Favorite designers? brands? and favorite stores to shop at? Where are the best deals?
Alexander McQueen,Gucci,Marc Jacobs
i like to shop at saks fifth ave, metropark, forever 21, urban outfitters

4. Who are your top five fashion icons?

michelle naik (hahha oh Shazia!)
lady gaga
blake lively
carrie from sex and the city

5. Any style tips that you could give someone with the same body type as you?

be yourself and always express how you feel with what you wear on your body and your face :)

6. Just for fun.. if you had your own clothing line, what would you name it?

Style philosophy interview continued

1. How do you define your style? (chic, retro, edgy, etc)
I don't really know how to define my style. I'm a sucker for guy's clothing and anything that has bows or lace or buttons. But if I could rock men's wear and/or classic style dresses, I totally would.

2. When did your interest in fashion begin? who/what is your inspiration to be fashionable?
My interest in fashion began only a couple years ago, to be honest with you. Having a best friend as a serious fashionista finally rubbed off on me and I decided I wanted to find clothes that fit who I am as a person. I'd even go so far as to say she's my inspiration to be fashionable. I couldn't drag her down in public walking around in my sweats and tees, haha.

3. Favorite designers? fav stores to shop at? where are the best deals at?
I <3 Marc Jacobs
. No one really knows how to make knitwear quite like him. I'm also really starting to like Diane von Furstenberg but my descent into the fashion world isn't yet completed...who knows who else is out there! I love Forever 21 because there's a hugeeee selection...even though so many people shop there, there are enough possibilities for everyone to create their own style. I also love this website called threadless.com. Screen print tees will always be my soft spot. They have the best deals too! I've bought shirts online for $5 before.

4. Who are your top 5 fashion icons?
This is a bit of a difficult question because labeling someone as an "icon" shouldn't be taken lightly and placing them upon a 'top shelf' shouldn't be either. I guess I only have three top fashion icons.
Two of my all time favorites would be Audrey Hepburn and Jackie Kennedy. I loved their simple, elegant dresses. Audrey's little black dress and cute cigarette jeans and Jackie O's oversized sunglasses and pillbox hats have immortalized them in fashion's history. I'm also a huge James Dean fan. He's the man who got everyone to want a leather jacket.

5. Any style tips that you could give someone the same body type as you?
Stay away from bubble tops or dresses! They tend to make you look fat.

6. Just for fun.. if you had your own clothing line, what would you name it?
If I had my own clothing line...I have no idea what I would name it, haha. Maybe something to do with dinosaurs because they're the shiiiiiiiiit.

1. How would you define your style?
Well, honestly I really dont know how to answer this question only because I usually dont conform myself to specific style. I absolutely love playing around with different looks and trying to see if I can pull them off.

2. When did your interest in fashion begin?
haha my interest in fashion began when my MOM stopped making my wear little frilly dresses. Being the youngest, I always looked at what my older siblings are wearing and I would get the kid version of the clothes they would wear. But now, its completely opposite. I'm their walking closet and they usually wear what I wear now!

3. Favorite designers? brands? and favorite stores to shop at? Where are the best deals?
What ever designer that I do like, is based off of quality and uniqueness of thier designs and NOT becuase of their "label" , Marc Jacob, Micheal Kors, BCBG, Lucky Brand ( jeans are super soft and comfy!). Firstly in apparel my favorites would be ( also my favorite places to shop), ZARA, rubbish, DUO, juicy couture, Arden B., Nordstrom, Mint, urban outfitters, armani exchange, delias, Victoria Secret (online catalog) , ETC!
For shoes: I love love chinese laundry shoes (but sometimes they get a little too funky), carlos santanas, steve madden (they have light weight heels that you can wear all night!) Micheal Kors makes one of the MOST comfy-est shoes ever! and of course Aldo.

where are the best deals: I think i find myself ALOT at ZARA and Nordstrom ( BP section and downstairs shoe section are my secret places to shop!) they have something for everyone and always up to date with their trends.

4. Who are your top five fashion icons?
Coco Chanel. I feel like she intertwined fashion into her own philosophies.

5. Any style tips that you could give someone with the same body type as you?
ummm, wear what ever you want , what ever size.. its NOT what you wear its HOW you wear it! work it mama!

6. Just for fun.. if you had your own clothing line, what would you name it?
